Blog Video Formats

Hey, all. In the past, I posted a poll question asking my readers in which format they preferred to get their videos on my site. Overwhelmingly the response was “Windows Media Downloadable .wmv Format.” Well, this week, as well as in times past, my readers were proved to be right.

I have posted videos in a few different formats here, including YouTube, Red Lasso, MetaCafe, LiveLeak, etc., but I’ve always had one fear about all of them. What if one day their sites go away? Some readers on others sites where I’ve posted links to my .wmv videos expressed exasperation at having to wait for my videos to download and suggested I use the more friendly YouTube instead. I’ve had more than two YouTube video accounts disabled in the past due to (I believe) anti-Jihadi videos. I know of many others who have experienced the same. So, in light of that, I decided I will only link to videos I have captured, edited and uploaded to my server (that is, unless of course, I am unable to capture the video myself…in that case, if I can find it on any of the other services, I will use their embed code and hope it works for a long time).

My opinion was further solidified this week when I went to Red Lasso to find and clip a video, and I got their company message about impending litigation and suspension of services:

We would like to thank you for your continued support of Redlasso. You have been essential to making Redlasso a household name online. Unfortunately, due to the legal actions taken against Redlasso by two networks, we are left with no alternative but to suspend access to our video search and clipping Beta site FOR THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE. The networks have provided a big blow to the blogger community’s right to exercise the first amendment and comment on newsworthy events. It is anti-Web. During this service suspension, we will continue our conversations with content providers, with the goal of establishing formal partnerships that will quickly help us restore access to the Beta site.

If I was not able to capture/edit/upload video on my own in the past, but I thought it was worth posting here and used any of the aforementioned services, please let me apologize in advance if any of those videos are currently unavailable. I still believe that for my readers, it is best that I continue to post links to downloadable videos in the foreseeable future. I’m sorry if you disagree with that format, but I’d rather you have something to view than a message that says “I’m sorry, this video is no longer available.”

My many thanks to my loyal readers and video viewers, and if there is anything else I can do to improve my blog for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me and give me your input. You can email me at MsUnderestimated@gmail.com.

Thanks so much for your loyalty, readership and understanding.

A World Without America (VIDEO)

A YouTube video by 18DoughtyStreet is one of the best I’ve seen on the argument as to why America is important to this entire planet. I’ll let you watch and be the judge.

From the Director:

This is the fourth of 18DoughtyStreet.com’s weekly adverts. At a time of rampant anti-Americanism this ad - produced with BritainAndAmerica.com - aims to remind the world of the great economic, technological and political benefits that the US has brought to the world.

I got chill bumps just watching this. FAN-TASTIC!

My First F*** You for 2007 (VIDEO)

I just happened across this, and you all know I don’t like YouTube anymore, but this is just over the top. I have had three profiles banned from YouTube, the first of which had 40+ videos on it, and yes, some were anti-jihadist, but that’s no reason to ban me. The others I had only had a few videos up, and somehow YouTube found them offensive enough to ban (no more anti-jihadi videos, just clips from Fox News and other programs), so that’s why I quit posting to YouTube.

And this is allowed? I encourage you to go to YouTube and flag this video. Hey, if the jihadists can do it, why can’t we?

Fox Reporter Butted By OSU Drunk (VIDEO)

Fox reporter, Steve Brown, was reporting from the Michigan vs. Ohio State game, when some drunk woman butts into him from his left, and it looks to me like Steve pushes back. Yea, Steve! Obviously, the woman is sobriety-challenged, and when they come back from the story, Julie Banderas told Steve he’d probably just gotten his first YouTube video.

This is priceless. I’m no YouTube fan after they banished me, but I’ll put it up there anyway just this once.

You can also download the clip here.

P.S. I just checked, and this will be FOR CERTAIN my last YouTube posting. They’ve banned ALL my profiles that I had to create.
