Well, the much-anticipated apology from Bill Maher has semi-arrived, and it’s fallen flat, much as has most of his “comedy” bits. I gotta tell ya folks, it’s hard for me to keep my HBO subscription, but I guess someone’s gotta take one for the team.

Bill Maher went off on a rant tonight, without divulging he’s a vegan or vegetarian, about prescription drugs. And yes, he even meant antibiotics. He seems to think most “normal” people are just like him, and if they were like him their healthy immune system wouldn’t need antibiotics, even if going to a foreign country. And even after it’s pointed out that Americans are living longer than ever.

Maher, you been hangin’ out with Tom Cruise lately? Somebody keep him away from Matt Lauer and Oprah’s couch.

I kid you not. Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters is on this, too. This is about tonight’s Real Time and the segment where Bill Maher indicates his preference would have been for Rush Limbaugh to “croak” from OxyContin as opposed to Heath Ledger.

P.J. O’Rourke also proclaims that we are nearing the end of conservative talk radio. Heh. Little does he know.

Maher: Why is it, I was asking Amy this, why is it that the Republican establishment, I guess it is, have so much disdain, not just for McCain, but for the other guy who’s still in it; Huckabee. They don’t like either one of them.

PJ: Well, I think a couple of things are going on. It’s the it’s the twilight of the radio loud-mouth, you know? I knew it from the moment the fat guy…

Maher: …You mean Rush Limbaugh and Sean..?

PJ: …from the moment the fat guy refused to share his drugs (audience laughter). I was, you know…he never called, he never wrote. I’m ready to party, you know, come on! No, I think it’s kind of over for those people. So…

Maher: Right, you mean the OxyContin that he was on?

PJ: Yeah, exactly. I mean, that stuff’s good!

Maher: Why couldn’t, uh, why couldn’ta he croaked from it instead of Heath Ledger? (small audience groans)

PJ: Yeah, yeah.

Noel Sheppard has the story at Newsbusters. Last night on Real Time, Trace Adkins, John Fund, DL Hughley and some left-wing loon discuss the validity of the 10 Commandments and religion in general. From Noel’s piece, he has a partial transcript:

TRACE ADKINS, COUNTRY SINGER: There’s two reasons why I go with the God thing, because, number one…

MAHER: (Laughing, grabs Adkins’ arm).

ADKINS: (To Maher) Shut up!

MAHER: You go with the God thing?

FUND: Listen to him.

MAHER: I know, I always listen to him.

ADKINS: Number one, just in case!

MAHER: (Laughing) Now that’s honest, right.

ADKINS: And number two, my momma may be watching. Just as D.L. [Hughley, other panelist] was saying, too, because his momma’s watching. (To Maher) Is your momma watching?

MAHER: She passed away.

ADKINS: See, she’s watching, you better shut up!

There were a couple of points in the whole panel discussion, besides this segment, where I thought Trace Adkins was going to jump the desk and choke the ever-livin’ shit out of Mr. Savage. I’m just surprised that Maher actually allowed TWO conservatives on the panel as opposed to how it’s usually stacked 4 to 1.

Matt Taibbi from Rolling Stone is one of Maher’s new “correspondents” for the 2008 campaign. Quite a ‘charming’ addition to the Real Time panel, right? Uh…not so much. Matt goes into a tirade about the surge, and Tony can’t help himself. “Absolutely goddamn right!”

My only remaining question is this: Why didn’t someone ask Cuban about his truther support?

Last night on Real Time, Bill’s guests included Catherine Crier, Mark Cuban and Tony Snow. The first topic of discussion was the “evil” Diebold machines, and whether or not the polls were correct for Obama in New Hampshire. Usually conservative guests on Maher’s show demure more than we’d like, but not Tony Snow. Watch Tony take Cuban, Crier and Maher to task on this subject.

Last night on Real Time, Maher came out of the gate swinging at Hillary and her campaign tears. Noel Sheppard from Newsbusters also covered this, and has a partial transcript here:

These are challenging times for the politically correct, I mean, don’t blame me for being sexist, because I read this in the New York Times that Hillary Clinton was going to lose New Hampshire, and then she cried and people voted for her especially the women. They wanted to see the robot cry. That’s what it was. It was like P.T. Barnum, “See the robot cry.” She broke the fourth wall. She cried, and then there was blood on the Son.

But I’ve heard of electing a president you want to have a beer with. But, electing a president you want to have a good cry with? I mean, it’s not a serious country. And I noticed that it was the exact right amount of crying. Did you see that? I mean, it wasn’t like a full tear, people would have been like, “Oh, come on, that’s glycerin! That’s bullshit!” It was just, it was like, if it was any more crying, it would have been like Howard Dean’s scream.

Most of you must also realize that all the tinpot dictators in the world saw Hillary’s tears, too. Don’t you understand that a president like this is what they desire most?

Sorry for the delay, but my internet cable went out last night and I couldn’t upload this video to my .ftp server.

Anyway, last night among Maher’s guests were Rep. Sheila Jakcson Lee and Chris Matthews. Also in attendance, probably NOT invited, were a group of 9-11 Truthers. Maher was not having any of it, and even raced up into the audience after asking “Do we not have any fucking secrurity?”

I’m actually shocked. I would have thought that even though Maher is no Truther, he would have allowed the idiots to stay, seeing as they’re on the same side of many things…except, obviously the “truth” movement.
