Folks, I don’t know about you, but when the Bidens joined Barack and Michelle on stage after they were introduced last Saturday, the body language of both couples was very odd to me. When Jill Biden reached out to hug Michelle, Michelle seemed very stiff, holding back and trying not to get too close. Michelle’s hand always kept the upper position to Jill’s. When Joe Biden hugged Michelle, and when Jill hugged Barack at the same time, I felt and saw a sense of awkwardness between the two couples, although Michelle & Joe’s embrace was a bit more emphatic. Barack kept his distance in the hug with Jill. Joe squeezed Michelle in a bear hug with his arms tightly wrapped around her upper body, and with her arms wrapped around his neck.
Just something creepy about the whole thing. I’d love to see Bill O’Reilly have Tonya Reiman do a body language segment on that embracing exchange. This video here is at a different angle than what I saw on TV, but you can get a general idea.
I say that because we need to keep notes about what happened as we’ll need it for ammo in the general election. What we’ve witnessed is unprecedented. The warring factions in the Democrat party are damn near history-making. We’ve seen fights and arguments about delegate rules, popular vote vs. delegate count, and endless capitulations to make the losing party “feel good” about the outcome, even though rules were broken (i.e., Michigan and Florida). Remember that infamous election in the not-too-distant past when the Democrats fought with the Republicans about the “popular vote?” Get ready to engage in a fight for the ages in the general election. Especially considering the race now appears to be neck-and-neck between Obama and McCain.
So, what we’ll need to arm ourselves with in these arguments is this: “Wait - you guys bent, re-created, twisted, and morphed the rules during your primary; so why are these rules so hard-and-fast now?” Count on it. If the race in November is as tight as it is now, look for the Democrats to change their views on the rules - again.
Ya know, I was thinking about this earlier today, and I have come up with a V.P. pick for McCain that would absolutely electrify the Conservative base. Not only that, but this person would be a formidable opponent in debates with Biden; in fact, I’m sure Biden would wind up running away, tail tucked, and licking his wounds.
You wanna know who I’m thinking about? How about Cheney. No… not that Cheney; I mean LYNN CHENEY! Can’t you just imagine her slicing Biden up one side and down the other, all the while smiling and schooling him at the same time? Remember the way she smacked Wolf Blitzer around?
This woman is defiant, a bulldog when she needs to be, and brilliant beyond imagination. She’d make one helluva V.P. In fact, I dare say she’d make a fantastic President!
Damn, wouldn’t that be great? I can only dream. *sigh*
Man, oh, man, Fox News’ Griff Jenkins has been making the protest rounds at the DNC in Denver so far. And as usual, Griff likes to mix it up a little with the unwashed masses. I really think he gets a huge kick out of this, proving the preachers of tolerance do not practice what they preach.
Yesterday Fox News’ Griff Jenkins waded fairly, balancedly and bravely into a sea of anti-war protesters (or as he calls it, “this marching… thing”) outside the Democratic National Convention. To his dismay, he found that the marchers did not believe in free speech.
