Guess Who Did Visit Our Wounded Troops?

h/t Matt at Blackfive for steering me to Mrs. Greyhawk’s Mudville Gazette post that is a must-read.

A top Iraqi official visited wounded American troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Tuesday to thank them for their part in ending Saddam Hussein’s rule in his country.

For the full article, check it out from CNS here. I want to post just a portion here:

“We have come … to express our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these great warriors, soldiers, in freeing the Iraqi people and in helping us in Iraq recover from tyranny and dictatorship,” Jawad Karim al-Bolani, Iraq’s minister of the interior, said through a translator to a handful of journalists in the lobby of the medical center.

“We also want to express our gratitude to the families of all these great men and women and express how important their sacrifices are for our nation,” he added.

Bolani’s visit with troops comes on the heels of Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) recent trip to the Middle East, where the Democratic presidential candidate caused a stir when he canceled a planned visit to wounded American soldiers.

Why isn’t this in the MSM media coveri….? uh, never mind.

Sarah Steelman - True Conservative (VIDEO)

Wow! I just saw a fantastic interview on Glenn Beck tonight. He had on Missouri’s State Treasurer, Sarah Steelman, who is currently running in the primary for the Governor’s seat. The segment was about Republicans losing touch with their conservative base, and really just losing their conservative ways in general.

I’m seeing lots of promising young conservatives lately, like Jindal, Palin, and now Steelman, so maybe there is hope for our future after all. Sarah, as State Treasurer, even dared to buck her state party by stopping payment on a check for a settlement in a sexual harassment lawsuit. You go girl!

Watch Glenn’s interview here.

More Government Entitlement - Thank You Very Little

I’m still pissed about this whole government bailout that Bush signed today. I heard on the news tonight that $300 billion of the bailout went to help out 400,000 homeowners who are facing foreclosure. What? $300 billion for 400,000 home mortgages? WTF is that all about? Now correct me if I’m wrong because math is NOT my forte, but if my calculator and 0s came out correctly, isn’t that $750,000 per HOUSE? Seriously…are you kidding me?

My God in heaven… what in the hell is wrong with Congress? Oh, yeah… that’s right. A lot of them face re-election in November. So, this really wasn’t a “bailout;” it was a huge-ass bribe that the rest of us responsible Americans will have to pay for. But that doesn’t give Bush any excuse. And if you’re living in a $750,000 home and you need bailed out? Screw you! You don’t deserve it - you bought way above your means.

(Note: I realize the whole amount is not just going to be doled out to these 400,000 houses as a whole, and a lot of it will go to ‘administrative’ fees, but good grief. Enough already!)
