So You Think You Can What? Again?

*sigh*… will this never end? I don’t know the motives, if any. But it seems that the public backlash over Mia Michaels’ original incorrect display of a Marine Dress Blue jacket might make this display suspicious. Not only that, I caught the following night’s “display” of yet another uniform shirt sitting right behind Mia Michaels. Last night on “So You Think You Can Dance,” one of the choreographers, Shane Sparks. Here’s what a friend of mine said when I asked about the shirt, especially the flag patches:

The insignia on the arm of that picture is for a third class petty officer in the United States Navy (E-4) and the rating insignia between the red chevron and eagle represents that of a Gas Turbine System Technician. However, no flags (backwards or frontwise) would ever be allowed on the breast of a uniform shirt like that. He, apparently, is not wearing it as proper military attire.

I’m asking for more military help on this one. Not that I don’t trust my friend who contributed above, but I’d like more sentiment on how appropriate or inappropriate this was.

Bill Kristol on The Daily Show (VIDEO)

This is classic Bill Kristol with Jon Stewart, but the best part is at the end. I can’t and won’t spoil it for you, but let’s just say it’s priceless.

Hint: It’s “allegedly” what Gen. Petraeus thinks of Jon Stewart. Heh.

Watch the segment here.

U.S. Troops Care for Orphaned Iraqi Baby (VIDEO)

h/t to Drudge from an earlier story from Reuters.

From that story:

Fatima weighed just 8.4 lbs when she was admitted, the weight of a new-born baby. Now she is a healthier 11.6 lbs, but still her wide, dark eyes seem too big for her face, and her head looks too large for a body stunted by malnourishment.

Old ringworm scars mark her thin arms.

The U.S. military says Iraqi police rescued her from a garbage dumpster on June 25 in the mostly Sunni Arab district of Saidiya, where many residents are too afraid to venture out.

She was brought to the hospital by U.S. soldiers who had been in the area at the time. They told staff how her parents and uncle had been killed.

“When she first got here she was timid and scared. Now she is laughing all the time. We’ve made a sling out of a sheet. We put her in there and carry her around while we take care of patients and do paperwork,” said Specialist Desmond Cacciotti.

She sleeps in a supply room near the nurses’ station so that they can keep a close eye on her. Her cot lies in a corner, amid shelves stuffed with donated baby clothes and medical supplies.

Special Report tonight featured a story about Fatima and her new-found admirers wearing fatigues.

You can watch the report here.
