Bonaduce Breaking Redford (VIDEO)

Today, our newly-favorite wily Hollywood conservative, Danny Bonaduce, gave his take on Robert Redford’s screed against President Bush and the war at the Sundance Film Festival. Redford shot his mouth off as the opening salvo of said event. As you can tell, Danny doesn’t much care for Redford’s stance, nor that of many of Hollywood lefties.

Here’s a partial transcript:

Gibson: He says that somebody was trying to squelch political speaking-out. I haven’t noticed any shortage of it among the liberals who make entertainment.

Bonaduce: I’ve noticed… I’ve noticed actually more of it. And first of all, if somebody owes America an apology, it’s Robert Redford for “Legal Eagles” with Demi Moore.

Gibson: (laughter)

Bonaduce: But let me just tell you right now. These people, the actors that drive me insane… Alec Baldwin, who I used to worry about because I thought he was a brilliant actor and he was so handsome, I didn’t think he’d get the credit he deserved, and then he blew up like Brando and I had to stop worrying. But didn’t he promise to leave this country if President Bush was elected? Well, I got a Ryder truck outside, and I will pack you myself. I’m so sick of everybody making these giant political statements, but nobody does anything.

President Bush may not be popular for sending young men off to war, but things need to be done, and movie stars just talk about it.

Gibson: What is it about the culture that you live in out there, the air that you breathe out there, that you GOT to be left; that being a, you know, somebody who might support the war, might support the President, or might have thought it was a good idea, is just a doofus or worse?

Bonaduce: Uh, or worse! You can really, really injure yourself because, especially in a time of war, which is, by the way, the reason I voted for Bush twice because I didn’t believe we should unseat a President during a time of war. If I worried about my business life… you know, I’ve never been real rich, but I’ve been real poor, which makes me okay for the rest of my life now, and I’m not afraid of these guys.

And the fact that if Barbra Streisand thinks she can keep me out of work, or if Steven Spielberg thinks he can keep me out of work because I believe in America, I’d rather be out of work.

Gibson: Is that the punishment for expressing a view that’s out of step?

Bonaduce: Now that, to be honest with you, I don’t know because I feel very privileged and I feel very lucky, and I say what’s on my mind all the time, I never pull punches. When I see these actors go on and say things… and not just actors, but singers like the Dixie Chicks for example. If they want to say that they’re embarrassed that Bush comes from Texas, in Texas, okay cause that’s covered by the First Amendment. But you don’t do it on foreign soil! That’s this close to treason as far as I’m concerned.

By the way, is it just me, or does Redford look 150 years old?

It's amazing to me that these boobs in Hollywood like to complain about people trying to silence them. WHAT????? I hear about actors who can't get work BECAUSE they are patriotic. How sick is THAT?

I guess Joe McCarthy was right...Hollywood is filled with Un-American threats.
  • Joyce, I am in total agreement with you. I loved Danny's like about "I've never been really rich, but I've been really poor, so I'm okay for the rest of my life. I'm not afraid of these guys."

Pure honesty. And another reason to admire the redhead...

Tell it like it is, Danny!

I'll help him pack up Baldwin, that bloated turd.

I'm sick of these 'celebs' with big mouths too. Always talking about freedom of speech... that's all they DO is talk. Wish their brain worked as good as their mouth. Mostly I think they are just trying to get free publicity to save their flagging careers. And it usually works for them sadly.

Danny, you're my new hero! Danny and Jack Bauer (if only Jack were real). LOL
