Scott Braddock, KTRH reporter, talks to Sean last night about the flap concerning a local elementary school in Texas where the Mexican Pledge of Allegiance was recited in class. Whaaa…???

As Alan Colmes did in the video, so liberals are saying, "No one was forced to participate in this." Interesting how this argument seems to be their rally cry, when they considered it an invalid defense of prayer in school. So, in the liberal mind, it's okay for a school to hold an event encouraging allegiance to a foreign country, but when a school wants to encourage individuals to pray to help America, that's just wrong. Once again, liberal logic lacks lucidity.

The principal of Velasco school said he would never consider repeating the event again, so it would seem as if he was honestly surprised. Though I have to think that if he never thought this would garnish such attention and ire, considering the illegal immigration issues in the spotlight right now, then either he is a buffoon, or he is lying.

Contrary to the principal's claims that no students participated in the pledge to Mexico, some parents claim that the children were told to recite the pledge from cards they were given. The principal further said the event was held in honor of hispanic cultural awareness.

I think the study and education of other cultures and foreign nations for our children is not only good but necessary. Note, however, this does not include holding rallies to promote allegiance to other countries, as this may have been. Any pledge to the flag of a foreign nation - and yes, Mexico is a foreign nation - is not an element of hispanic culture, it is an element of disloyalty to America. You cannot pledge allegiance to two nations. One will always have to come first.

As a patriotic American I refuse to pledge allegiance to any other nation's flag. No school within the United States has the right to require anything different from my child. Children are impressionable and to hold an event where the Mexican flag is presented with the same honor and respect due the American flag is unpatriotic, un-American, and pollutes children's minds against their own country.
