A reader who goes by the name of Herman Bender posted a comment on my post “A Difficult Lesson.” I didn’t know how to intelligently answer him without sounding like an irate buffoon, so I enlisted the help of a dear friend of mine. Retired Lt. Col. Dave Wagner, who is quite the historian. Dave is also a devout Christian, has fought in many wars, and knows more about history than anybody else I know. Herman’s partial comments are in plain text, Dave’s are in bold. Enjoy everybody! Herman, get out your Big Chief tablet, #2 pencil, and prepare to be schooled by Dave.

And we wonder why 9/11. For the last 55 years our all knowing and all wise politicians have sent BILLIONS of dollars and a massive amount of WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION

Billions of dollars were invested in the new State of Israel because it was the ‘right’ thing to do, and without that backing, the Jews would not survive. It also gave the world the only ‘democratic’ form of government in the entire Middle East. No weapons of mass destruction have EVER been supplied to Israel. Today, Israel is among the top five nations in the world, scientifically speaking, and has long had the knowledge of nuclear power and weaponry. Israel possess between 300 and 600 nuclear devices and bombs and WILL use them as a final resort if pushed into the sea.

Palestinians ‘owned’ nothing; in fact they were tribal Arabs who squatted in this area.

Forgot to mention the percentage of Jews that also lived in this area, and they too, were there since God ‘gave’ this land to them.

Palestine was under the Ottoman [Turkey] regime. The Jews, Muslims and Christians lived together in peace for centuries until England took over the rule of Palestine and promised the Jews a homeland in Palestine [which they had NO right to do].

How convenient to overlook the fact that it was the United Nations, by a majority vote, that gave the new nation of Israel the right to live here.

The ZIONISTS [not religious] took over and they were the original TERRORISTS [Stern Gang and the Irgun Terrorists] who murdered the British troops and Palestinians.

Just as the Jews were being mistreated and murdered by the ruling forces. The British often looked the other way and allowed the Arabs to do as they wished with the Jews. The one excess in particular, which was committed by the Irgun, was the bombing of the King David Hotel. This was certainly NOT Jewish or Israeli policy at the time.

They wanted much more territory than what was alloted to them and they got it thru TERRORISM. Their goal is to “liberate” what 2000 years ago were the Biblical Lands. That means they eventually want to take over all of the Sinai, part of Egypt, all of Jordan, a large piece of Saudi Arabia, all of Lebanon, all of Syria, a huge piece of Turkey, part of Iraq and all of Kuwait.

Utter and complete nonsense. The United Nations determined, through a will of the majority, exactly what land the new nation of Israel was to have, and it is what they have today.

The Muslims only have small arms and weapons whereas the Zionists have a massive amount of WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION and they freely use them on innocent civilians and children.

Once again a total pack of lies. Immediately after the new State of Israel was declared in 1948, the Arabs began undeclared attacks upon all Jews, including women, children and other civilians with the intent to drive them all into the sea. To this end, the Arabs were armed with ex-German equipment, tanks and aircraft, as well as small arms. The Israelis have ALWAYS fought in a military manner, attacking those who attack them, and making war against the terrorists and those nations who have violated the provisions of the United Nations. Israelis do not make war against women and children EXCEPT when cowardly terrorists hide themselves and their weapons (rockets) in mosques and behind innocent women and children. This is called ‘collateral damage.’

Who is the real TERRORIST?

Arab states and other Muslims are. Israel has been repeatedly attacked, without notice, without declaration of war, and often upon high Jewish holy days. Israel has never lost a war. The first time that they do, they are all dead. There is no desire or intent on the part of the Arab/Muslim enemies for any kind of a peace or settlement, except when it will buy them time to rearm for the next conflict to destroy the Jewish people. The so-called ‘Palestinians’ were offered their own nation within the past decade through the Camp David Accords. It was declined by their own leader, Yassir Arafat. They want it ALL, or they want nothing. Most of all they want all Jews dead. This from the religion of ‘peace, mercy and enlightenment.’ Immediately after the declaration of the new State of Israel back in 1948, there were many Arabs who were living side by side with the Jews in what was to become Israel. They profited, as did the Jews, and there was little, if any, friction between them. After the State of Israel was declared, any Arabs that cooperated with the Israelis were put to death by the Muslims and the rest fled to neighboring Arab lands that wanted nothing to do with them. As for weapons, it is Hezbullah today that has fired over 2000 rockets into Israeli cities that offer no military targets what so ever. Obviously this is terror attacking at it’s worst. Women, children, the the elderly, all are targeted, whereas the Israeli military is primarily going after military targets.

I have posted articles by Dave before, and I’m encouraging him to write more for me. He’s a brilliant mind, and quite articulate. I was going to keep this retort on the comment section of that post, but I felt Dave’s response to be worthy of a post of its own. Herman, care to argue again?
